Hampton Tavern Walk in today and repent tomorrow! Join the Hampton Historical Society for an Old Hampton Tavern Walk and book signing on Oct.13, 2012. Click the poster for more info.

The town of Hampton, originally part of Massachusetts, dates its founding to October 14, 1638. While there are big plans to celebrate the town’s 375th birthday later in 2013, the Hampton Historical Society is kicking off the start of this milestone year with the Old Hampton Tavernwalk, a light-hearted celebration of the town during the 17th and 18th centuries.

New Book!

Blending historical fact with a sprinkling of well-crafted storytelling, A Meet and Suitable Person: Tavernkeeping in Old Hampton, New Hampshire, 1638-1783 takes readers on a back door tour through the taverns of Puritan Hampton, detailing the lives of the men and women who kept the town’s public houses of entertainment during the colonial era. Visit The Hampton Historical Website for more information.
